Erin Curtis, B.A., CAPT
Director & Caregiver Educator
Dragonfly Family and Learning Service’s Caregiver Educator, Erin Curtis, has supported neurodivergent children and youth in various therapeutic and educational programs for over a decade. During this time, Erin repeatedly noticed how parents and caregivers were left with very few supports designed to help them to best support their child(ren).
When creating Dragonfly Family and Learning Services ABA Therapy program, Erin rejected the idea that a parents’ only option is to send their kid(s) off to school or therapy (or both) and then figure out how to fill in the gaps at home all on your own. Dragonfly’s ABA Therapy programs are designed with Caregiver Support and participation built into each package to help bridge this gap.
Erin is a Certified ABA Parent Trainer (CAPT), holds a Bachelor’s in Child and Youth Care, and has been working with neurodivergent families since 2013. Caregiver Support clients gain access to this combined experience in a 1:1 setting to enhance their parenting knowledge and empower them to be the best parent for their child.
Since 2021, Erin has been offering Caregiver Support to families who are not current ABA Therapy clients in order to expand the availability of this unique service. Individual Caregiver Support is now available for families across Ontario.
Caregiver Support Packages
Caregiver Support Packages are created for parents/caregivers that are looking to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in how they support their neurodivergent children at home.
Caregiver Support is designed to create a place each week for you to focus on YOU. We will spend our first 2 appointments creating a plan together and spend the remainder working towards your goals. Caregiver Support appointments are based upon the principles of Radical Behaviourism (ABA) and Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) and are delivered by a Certified ABA Parent Trainer (CAPT) under the supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (Ont).
Caregiver Support appointments are a collaborative process where you and our CAPT co-create goals and a plan to reach those goals together. Each week’s appointments will focus on supporting you in achieving these goals.
Once your package comes to an end, you aren’t left to do the rest of the work alone! Follow-up support is available with every package.
Each Caregiver Support Package includes an individualized Caregiver Support Plan which outlines your goals as well as the ways in which you will work towards these goals in collaboration with Erin, Dragonfly Family and Learning Services’ Director and Caregiver Educator. Caregiver Support Packages center around weekly support appointments and are customized based upon your goals, learning style, and other important family and lifestyle factors.
